There is nothing more daunting or more invigorating than seeing one of the world’s largest and most majestic creatures up close. Seeing something like that, something that puts your own self into such a different perspective, leaves an everlasting effect on you. It’s definitely something you’ll never forget.
For that reason, it’s completely understandable that whale watching has become a primary tourist attraction. But how can you be sure you’re getting on the boat of a considerate and professional tour guide? Here are a few ways you can help reassure yourself that you’ve found the best whale watching tour guide around.
Respect the Whales
Of course, everyone wants to make sure they get their money’s worth when it comes to whale watching, but that should never come at the expense of the whales. Make sure you’ve found a guide who puts respect for the animals above his or her own profit. Ask the guide how they would guarantee you’ll see what you’ve paid for. Honestly, these are living animals that cannot be controlled. There is never a complete guarantee, and an honest tour guide will tell you that. If they don’t, they’re either lying to you or using some unnecessary tactic to draw the animals around. Either way, it’s not something to be involved in. It’s better to treat the whales with the respect they deserve and find another tour guide.
Educated and Experienced
Take a look at how much information your tour guide is able to give you. How much do they know about migration patterns? How can they pinpoint different markings on the whales? These are all questions that an expert whale watcher should be able to tell you. Keep asking questions until you’re satisfied with his or her knowledgeability. A tour guide’s passion should prompt him or her to give you even more information than you could ever possibly need.
Finding the best whale watching Sydney cruises will mean you’ll have the opportunity to see many different animals. It’s a great time to take a tour because the likelihood of seeing not one, but multiple whales rises substantially.
Seeing a whale for the first time can be a life-altering experience, and even after that first time it can still make your jaw drop. Being in the presence of such incredible creatures leaves a mark on a person that can never quite be matched. Find a great tour guide today and experience something that will give you feelings of joy and awe you could never replicate.
